NXP is one of the six founding member of The Zephyr™ Project, a collaborative effort to develop an open source, scalable and robust RTOS optimized for resource-constrained embedded devices and built with security in mind. The Zephyr Project strives to deliver a comprehensive RTOS for connected resource-constrained devices, built to be secure and safe. The features of Zephyr are strongly aligned with NXP’s product portfolio for Edge connect devices, with focus on secure, connected devices with safety certification. To simplify development and accelerate adoption, NXP provides a streamlined getting started guide tailored for new users.
NXP offers a variety of evaluation and prototyping platforms that are supported by the easy-to-use Zephyr OS. Developers are able to easily tailor a solution to meet their needs using a true open source project with hardware, developer tools and sensor and device drivers. Security enhancements with Zephyr OS enable the simple implementation of device management, connectivity stacks and file systems.
Zephyr OS support is available on several NXP platforms, based on code contributions from NXP, our customers and the Zephyr community. Code releases are governed by the Zephyr Project, with time-based releases approximately every three months and long term support (LTS) releases also available.
