パスワードの再入力The spectrum of physical attacks is broad, from invasive methods to unnoticed, non‑destructive techniques. It includes side‑channel attacks, fault injection attacks, and invasive attacks. Their goal is to make it difficult to bypass security protections and to prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing, modifying or disabling devices or systems through physical attacks. Depending on the target applications specific to each product, NXP implements various countermeasures at chip level complementing or avoiding the need for other mechanisms applied at equipment level.
NXP has also developed resistance against logical attacks, which exploit logical errors, software bugs and flaws in decision‑making processes. Logical attacks and physical attacks can be combined to downscale attacks in overall complexity, while still fully automated and deployed remotely.
| Physical | Logical | |
|---|---|---|
| Local | Power analysis, light attacks, glitchingLevel of importance: High* | Exploiting JTAG, serial, USBLevel of importance: Higher* |
| Remote | Rowhammer, cache timingLevel of importance: Higher* | Buffer overflow, heartbleed, flooding/DoSLevel of importance: Highest* |
*Level of importance to ensure security against threats
NXP offers a range of countermeasures, from prevention of attacks to detection of tampering attempts and response.
The resistance level and diversity of countermeasures on NXP products are profiled to meet targeted applications. Check each NXP product family for the exact set of supported protections.
NXP provides built‑in protections against both physical and logical attacks, delivering enhanced robustness through countermeasures that detect, react to, and mitigate attack attempts across the device lifecycle.
Strong protection against physical attacks, making it difficult for attackers to bypass security protections or gain unauthorized access, modify, or disable devices and systems based on physical tampering.
Strong protection against logical attacks, reducing the risk of exploitation of logical errors, software bugs, or flaws in decision‑making processes.
Support for certification and compliance, leveraging NXP’s built‑in countermeasures aligned with standards such as Common Criteria, SESIP and PSA Certified.
Reduced risk of large‑scale compromise, preventing both localized physical tampering and remotely exploitable logical vulnerabilities.
