Electricity demand is rising. EV adoption is accelerating. At the same time, utilities face growing pressure to balance supply and demand while integrating more renewable energy sources. The next step is transforming homes from passive energy consumers into active participants in the energy ecosystem.
Enphase and NXP are helping make that future possible through bidirectional EV charging. With this technology, EV batteries can power homes during outages, respond to grid demand and support a more resilient energy infrastructure.
Based on the NXP’s EasyEVSE Reference Platform, Enphase’s IQ Bidirectional EV Charger brings together intelligent processing, connectivity and security to enable secure, real-time coordination between the vehicle, home and grid. The result is a seamless way to transform EV batteries from idle assets into flexible energy resources.

The NXP EasyEVSE Reference Platform is a complete system solution for EV charging applications. It integrates intelligent processing, security, connectivity and power management into a single architecture, helping manufacturers accelerate development of advanced EV chargers, including bidirectional charging solutions.
Bidirectional EV charging enables electricity to flow both to and from an electric vehicle. Instead of simply charging the battery, energy stored in the vehicle can power a home during an outage or be sent back to the grid when demand is high, making EVs valuable energy assets.
Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) enables an electric vehicle to supply electricity directly to a home, providing backup power during outages or reducing electricity costs during periods of peak demand.
Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology enables electric vehicles to return stored electricity to the grid. This allows EV batteries to support grid stability, balance energy demand and create new value from parked vehicles.
Enphase Energy, a global energy technology company based in Fremont, CA, is a leading supplier of microinverter-based solar and battery systems, EV chargers, home energy management systems and virtual power plant (VPP) solutions. Enphase products enable people to harness the sun to make, use, save and sell their own power, all controlled through the Enphase App. The company revolutionized the solar industry with its microinverter-based technology and has shipped approximately 84.8 million microinverters, with more than 5.0 million Enphase-based systems deployed in over 160 countries.
