The AI and compute engines in data centers and servers rely on embedded management systems to monitor and optimize the flow of data, energy and cooling resources. This control plane—interconnected by inter-integrated circuit/improved inter-integrated circuit (I²C/I3C), peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe), USB or input/output (IO)—and networked with Ethernet, controller area network (CAN) or optical—but also supported by highly efficient power conversion and cooling systems.

Server Management

Management systems monitor and allocate resources to optimize the flow of data, energy and cooling. This is supported through interconnect: I²C/I3C, PCIe, Ethernet, CAN, USB, but also analog power management integrated circuit (PMIC), IO, real-time clock (RTC) and level shifters.

Power and Energy

Grid-level power is converted to direct current (DC) and distributed to servers where voltages are regulated to supply every component.

Cooling

Waste heat is removed by liquid and air-cooling systems.
