AUTOSAR (Classic Platform) 4.0 is the first version supporting Ethernet in all layers of the communication stack. Also includes diagnostic log and trace capability (in the system services layer), updated configuration schemata for system level, ECU level, and module level configuration descriptions. AUTOSAR (Classic Platform) 4.0 targets automotive and industrial, except for ultra-hazardous applications.
AUTOSAR (Classic Platform) 4.0 is the second NXP-supported major version with improved and matured standard specifications —compared to version 3.0. Therefore, AUTOSAR 4.0 and AUTOSAR 3.0 software cannot easily be used in a mixed way.
The AUTOSAR OS can still be configured to scalability class 1 (backwards compatible to OSEK).
