The PTN3356 Demo Board provides an easy interface between a host system with a DisplayPort connector and a monitor with VGA connector

PTN3356 acts as a bridge between the PC's DisplayPort connector and a VGA monitor by converting DisplayPort protocol to analog VGA format.

  • Main Link: 1-lane and 2-lane modes supported
  • Support HBR at 2.7 Gbit/s and RBR at 1.62 Gbit/s per lane
  • BER better than 10E-9
  • Support DisplayPort Link down-spreading
  • Pixel clock up to 240 MHZ
  • Triple 8-bit DAC
  • ESD protection: 7.5 kV HBM
  • 32-pin HVQFN, 5x5x0.85 mm, 0.5 mm pitch, lead-free package
  • Active High HPD signal to the source
  • Direct drive of double terminated 75 Ohm load with standard 700 mV signals
  • Monitor presence detection through load detection scheme
  • Connection/disconnection reported vis HPD IRQ and DPCD update

  • PTN3356 is a Flash-based DP to VGA adapter
  • VESA-compliant DisplayPort v1.4 convert

Power Management

  • Active-mode power consumption: ~200 mW at WUXGA, 1920 x1200 @60 Hz 18 bpc
  • 410 µW at low-power mode

Display

  • VSIS 1.2 compliant analog video output
  • Analog RGB current-souce outputs
  • 3.3 V VSYNC and HSYNC outputs
  • Wide sets of display resolutions are supported
  • Any resolution and refresh rates are supported from 25 MHz up to 180 MHz pixel clock rate at 24 bpp, or up to 240 MHz pixel clock rate at 18 bpp

Support

  • Supports 1 Mbit/s AUX channel
  • Support VESA-compliant eDP extensions ASSR and AEF
  • I²C-Over_AUX support MCCS, DDC/CI, and DDC protocols
  • Bits per color (bpc) supported
    • 6, 8 bits supported
    • 10, 12, 16 bits supported by truncation to 8 MSBs
  • Different crystal frequencies support: 24/25/27 MHz
