This EVALUATION KIT features the MC33991 which is a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) controlled, dual stepper motor driver IC. This monolithic IC consists of four dual output H-Bridge coil drivers and their associated control and management logic. Each pair of H-Bridge drivers automatically controls the speed, direction and magnitude of current through the two coils of a 2-phase instrumentation stepper motor, similar to an MMT-licensed AFIC 6405.
A special circuit detects motor stall accurately and allows simple end stop detection.
The 33991 is ideal for use in instrumentation systems which require distributed and flexible stepper motor gauge driving. The device simplifies the use of stepper motors by including all the logic required to manage the motion of the stepper without requiring significant processor overhead.
