NXP's Freedom boards for MC32XSG family is a hardware tool for development with the MC17XSG500 associated with NXP Freedom boards or Arduino® Hardware. This device is a penta High Side switch that features integrated control with high flexibility and a high number of protection and diagnostic functions.
FRDM-32XSG-EVB is an easy to use solution for creating your own application that requires high power (protection at 11A typical per channel) at low DC voltage (up to 32V )
This board is is combined with the following interfaces:
- Software drivers and example for Arduino®
- Processor Expert components for the various Kinetis Freedom boards

Features
Power Management
- External smart power switch control Output current monitoring with programmable synchronization signal and battery voltage feedback
- This board can control various types of loads such as solenoids, PLC, DC motors, bulbs, or LED
- These devices are 16-bit 5.0 MHz SPI, control of overcurrent profiles, channel control including PWM duty-cycles, output-ON and -OFF OpenLoad detections, thermal shut-down and prewarning, and fault reporting
- Device can be driven by the 16-bit SPI using:
- Kinetis x Series Freedom boards using Processor eXpert Gen4eXtremeSwitch component using CodeWarrior 10.6 or Kinetis Design Studio v3.0 or higher
- Arduino® Uno (all version) and Leonardo
- With direct input signals in Fail-safe mode operation (switch on board)
